Because lots of youths have problems with career selection and preparation we deemed it imperative to give a solid direction for such notable quest. Today we shall be talking about career preparation; please be informed that there are differences between career preparation and exams preparations.
Career preparatory experiences help young people prepare for success in university, and even independent living. Preparatory activities include career awareness, career exploration, and career assessment tied to classroom learning; special skills. Appropriate career preparatory experiences allow youth to explore a variety of career opportunities while identifying their career interests, abilities, and potentials needs for success. Career preparatory activities help young people make the informed decisions necessary for successful transition into careers.
Research shows that preparation for the transition from secondary to university education or independent living must begin well before completion of secondary school. Career preparation is essential throughout school experience and can be accomplished in part through career preparatory activities that include both classroom and community based experiences. Through these activities youth can explore the types of learning options and experiences needed to develop basic work skills for further studies, or employment. These is achieved by taking courses required for enrollment in university and/or acquire the skills necessary for independent living. Career preparatory experiences exposes youths with career opportunities by:
(a) organizing the curriculum in more meaningful ways;
(b) highlighting occupations, career paths, and experiences in the community that youth might otherwise be unaware of; (c) giving youth skills, academic knowledge, and personal competencies required in the workplace and for continued education; and
(d) providing youths with personalize opportunities and related skills to meet their individual needs. Schools are not the only organizations education that offer career preparatory opportunities. Community based organizations, youth organizations, public employment and training agencies, families and intermediaries must also play a role in the career preparation of youths.
